Shell Presents VIVA Technology Program

On November 11, 2011, Engineering and PTEC Team Members from the Satellite Center along with students from Hahnville High School and Destrehan High School who are interested in careers in Engineering attended the Shell VIVA Technology workshop at St. Charles Parish Public Schools Professional Learning Center.
The program sponsored by Shell is to promote and increase the number of students choosing careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Pictured are Jordan Hernandez, Thomas Bailey, Brody Vial, Hailee Weber and Aaron Hughes.

Dakota Wood, PTEC Satellite Center Team member and his team mates work intently on creating a tower to earthquake specifications at the Shell VIVA Technology Program held at the St. Charles Parish Professional Learning Center on November 11, 2011.

As part of the VIVA Technology Program attended by the Satellite Center Engineering and PTEC team members along with students from Hahnville High School and Destrehan High School, participants were given the opportunity to earn “bucks” during the day’s activities for good work and participation giving them chances in a prize raffle held at the end of the day. Hailee Weber, Satellite Center Engineering Team Member and DHS student, was the winner of a college start kit including a printer, calculator and voice recorder.
